How guides are researched
Each topic starts with a question real printer owners ask, such as "Why does my printer say it is offline?" We then read the relevant manufacturer manuals, help pages and operating-system documentation, and write steps that work across as many models as possible. Where steps differ by brand, we say so and link to the maker's own instructions.
We write for people, not search engines. That means no filler and no keyword stuffing. It also means no promises that a step will definitely solve a problem.
Checking against manufacturer manuals
- Menu names, button labels and safety warnings are checked against current manuals before publishing.
- Operating-system steps are checked against the current versions of Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS and Android.
- Anything involving electricity, heat, sharp parts or chemicals carries a safety note, and we tell you when to stop and consult your manual instead.
Updates and the "Last updated" date
Every guide shows a published date and a "Last updated" date. We change the "Last updated" date only when the substance of a guide changes: new steps, changed menus or corrected facts. A typo fix doesn't count. Guides are reviewed when operating systems or common printer menus change.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error, please tell us. Use the contact form and choose the subject "Correction", with the page address and what you think is wrong.
We review every correction. When we confirm an error, we fix it promptly and update the "Last updated" date to match. Significant factual corrections are noted at the end of the guide.
Independence
We are not affiliated with any printer manufacturer, accept no paid placements and have no affiliate links at launch. Companies cannot review or approve our articles before publication. Read more on our About page.
Use of AI-generated illustrations
The illustrations and photographs on this site are original images generated with AI tools for MyGadgetsGuide. They show unbranded, generic devices so they never resemble a real manufacturer's product.
Because they are illustrations, buttons, ports and panels in an image may not match your printer exactly. Always follow the labels on your own device and its manual. Every image is listed on our Image Credits page. Article text is written and checked by our editor.
